My husband and I stayed at Mud Springs for a week-long winter camp a few years back. It is a GORGEOUS spot! Definitely primitive – there is a restroom, fortunately, but the site is a ways back into the National Forest, and there are no electrical hookups or potable water. Exactly what we were looking for! ;) The corrals are great and there’s a creek for stock water, so you don’t have to worry about hauling water in for horses. The site is laid out very well and has easy access to miles and miles of horse-friendly trails. If you like spending time with your horse in a pristine natural setting, getting away from it all and “roughing it” with no RV hookups, showers, or 7-11s within a 100-mile radius, then this is the spot for you. :)
